The VDO Fuel sender needed for 1965 Lancia Flavia Zagato - original is lever type but general opinion is that the tubular type is better - needs to be 162mm long. Only seen 160mm on lists but 2mm of petrol in the scheme of things seems little to worry about can you help.

The VDO arm type and dip tube senders have different resistances so the sender will need to match the gauge you have, you are not free to fit any sender to any gauge. The VDO dip tube sender needs a VDO dip tube fuel gauge to record accurately. VDO have two fuel gauges, one for use with the VDO float arm sender and another different one to work with the float sender.
